Townshippers' Association YOUth ProjectsTownshippers’ Youth Council
What is the Townshippers' Youth Council? The Townshippers' Youth Council is a place for discussion, exploration, and action for young people (aged 12-25) throughout the Eastern Townships region of Quebec. As members of the council, youth are encouraged to get together, explore real issues, find solutions and create interesting projects for themselves and for their communities. At the same time, being part of the council also allows youth to meet new people, make new friends, learn new skills and, most importantly, have fun! Being part of the Townshippers' Youth Council provides young people with the opportunity to have their voices heard, their ideas valued and, last but not least, a chance to make some of their dreams a reality... This council is YOURS... have fun with it!
The mission of the Townshippers' Youth Council: With guidance and support provided by the volunteering adult population, the Townshipper' Association Youth Council works to ensure the promotion of youth ideas and expressions within the inter-community* of the Eastern Townships. *Inter-community: The inter-community of the Eastern Townships means youth from different towns and areas in the Eastern Townships, and includes both English-speaking and French-speaking individuals.
The Youth Council Objectives: To learn from others (both peers and the adult volunteering population) by sharing knowledge, skills and experience. To create opportunities that will allow and encourage youth to become leaders. To establish a youth network for the entire Eastern Townships inter-community. To provide an inviting environment that promotes the exchange of ideas and enables youth to have their voices heard. To increase the involvement of young people in youth centres and youth groups across the Eastern Townships. To encourage the involvement of people of all ages in youth centres and in their own communities.
Who is the Youth Council for? The Youth Council is for youth between the ages of 12 and 25, who live in the Eastern Townships region and wish to get more involved in their communities, meet new people and have fun!

Townshippers’ Association’s Make Way for YOUth project is part of the Place aux jeunes en région initiative to counter youth exodus and encourage qualified young professionals to migrate to areas outside of Quebec’s large city centres: Montreal, Québec City and Gatineau.
The project offers a variety of services for post-secondary students and graduates (between the ages of 18 and 35): FREE exploratory activities that introduce youth to a new area and help them begin making contacts there; FREE personalized individual support services to help youth get settled in the Townships and FREE access to an e-newsletter and website which list a selection of the best job opportunities and activities available in the Estrie.
As well, Make Way for YOUth works with teenagers to help them develop and increase their sense of belonging to the Estrie region, as well as to give them the tools and desire to get more involved in their community.
